สำหรับนักศึกษากฎหมายที่ต้องการสอบผู้ช่วยผู้พิพากษาสนามจิ๋ว น้อง ๆ สามารถเรียนปริญญาโทกฎหมายในมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนำของประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาที่ได้รับการรับรองจาก ก.พ. และ ก.ต.

ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา จะแบ่งเป็น 2 เทอม รวมระยะเวลาเรียน 9 -12 เดือน โดยจะเปิดเรียน 2 ครั้งต่อปี คือเดือน มกราคม และ สิงหาคมของทุกปี
ในการสมัครสอบผู้ช่วยผู้พิพากษาสนามจิ๋ว (สนามพิเศษ) น้องๆจะต้องเรียนปริญญาโท ๒ ใบ เพราะตามมาตรา ๒๘ (๒) (ข) พระราชบัญญัติระเบียบข้าราชการฝ่ายตุลาการศาลยุติธรรม พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๓ ได้กำหนดคุณวุฒิของผู้สมัครสอบไว้ว่า ผู้สมัครสอบจะต้องสอบไล่ได้ปริญญาจากต่างประเทศโดยมีหลักสูตรเดียวไม่น้อยกว่าสองปี หรือหลายหลักสูตรรวมกันไม่น้อยกว่าสองปี ซึ่งก.ต.เทียบไม่ต่ำกว่าปริญญาตรี อย่างไรก็ตามจากที่ปรากฏในการศึกษาปริญญาโททางกฎหมายทั้งในประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ประเทศอังกฤษ และ ประเทศออสเตรเลียต่างเป็นหลักสูตรที่เรียนประมาณ ๑ ปีเท่านั้น จึงทำให้นักศึกษาไทยต้องเรียนปริญญาโทในต่างประเทศ ๒ ใบเพื่อให้ครบคุณสมบัติที่ก.ต.กำหนดไว้ดังกล่าว
